I know most of us when we are out late do not think anything can happen to us, we're just couponing right? Our cars aren't that far away, plenty of lights around.... Well I have to share that a few weeks ago I was assaulted outside of Walgreens. I was NOT paying attention, I was more focused on the Jinga stash of Cottonelle going into my car. I feel that sometimes we underestimate our surroundings, not taking into account that the statistic 1 out of every 5 women will be assaulted in their lifetime, is true. When you think about the number of women from the CLAM Family, that are out at 11:59 on a Saturday night to get the best deals, that puts it into perspective.
The worst part is, I speak a few times a week at various places about keeping yourself safe when out alone. I let my guard slip for the slightest moment, and it happened to me. I can't even explain the how or why, it just did. No amount of physical preparation could have saved me from that man, he overpowered me 3 fold. This is not my first time in my life that this has happened, but it is my Fourth. The first time I thought it was how I was dressed, maybe I was a bit too provocative. The second time I was on a date. Third time I was jogging, but decently covered. The fourth, and most recent time, I was in sweatpants and my husbands T-Shirt.... No matter what you look like, or what you're wearing, something CAN happen!
