Are you sick of your cable bill?

Well, I guess today was the day. Another month and another $200+ cable bill from my "friends" at Time Warner Cable. For those who don't know I live in rural Maine and these people these people have what has always seemed and felt like an absolute monopoly.

Anyway, I don't really know what prompted me to even to look around today or why this happened to be the straw that broke the camels back but check out what I found.

Dish Network is running an unadvertised special where they will give you half off of their service if you tell them you are switching from a cable company. I am getting 4 rooms with HD and 4 DVRs and the ability to watch my DVR from anywhere I can log on the the internet. For $65/month. WHAT!?

I know it's not the kind of stuff we normally talk about but I am so excited about this deal that I couldn't wait to tell you guys. Even if you are happy with your current service you should call them and ask what they are willing to do for you to get you to switch.

You can call them at 1-888-652-2671. Push 1 when asked if you are calling to order service and then just give them the chance to sell you. Negotiate after the first offer. They are really pulling out all the stops to try and add customers.

**as you might expect they are getting slammed. you might be on hold a couple minutes**

200 plus here too with Time Warner!  Thanks for the tip, I'll be calling!  How many offers did they make before the $65?  How long is the Dish contract?  1 year, 2 year, etc.  Thanks!

I think those deposits are credit based. I have comcast cable and Internet for $49.99a month-but I'm guessing that's only in the nj pa de area

Here In Houston Warner changed to Comcast. My bill was also high but I called to disconnect and they offered me a promotion Internet high speed and cable 49.99 x 1year. Then they advised me to call next year and ask for another promotion. Dish does have good deals but I can't stand that it looses signal when it rains, windy, any bad weather.

It has been 6 years since I have paid for TV. Local stations are fine.

I am getting ready to drop my direct tv after 20 + years of 100.00 per month and am getting a roof top antenna which will pick up around 52 channels and also purchased a tv tuner for my lap top to use the media center to load my channels and also signed up for amazon prime for about 6.00 per month for tv shows and movies. So yeah I am cutting the cord on my tv bill,, just wish there was another option for the internet, oh well.

Hey does anyone know which service would be best for just plain internet service? I just want WiFi for all the household gadgets. I have the digital antenna as well. I refuse to pay a cable bill.
