For those of you who don't know me, I am not one to ever play coupon police, and coupon etiquette...well, I don't have any. Looking down on the stunts people pull when couponing is not my style, and frankly, the concept that someone is "ruining it for everyone" or "giving couponers a bad name" means nothing to me.
Having said that, it is my contention that you are completely screwing yourself if you use that scanned IVC coupon for the Nice toilet paper that is floating around. Why? Well, I have a few reasons.
First, let's just agree that the coupon being scanned and passed around is completely fraudulent. It is cut and dry. Those of you who want to debate that should come up with a well written argument about why a digital copy of a limited release coupon is different than a copy of a paper coupon. Anybody want a scan of my Jingle Bucks bar codes? The two are analogous.
Now, if you have followed me for any amount of time then you know that I am very extreme when it comes to Walgreens. I am sure that there are people who get more stuff for free at Wags then I do, but there certainly aren't very many. The single biggest reason that I am able to do what I do at the corner of happy and healthy, is that I have the unfettered cooperation and trust of the store employees. They know me, what I do, why I do it, and most importantly, they know that I don't do anything that will ever cost their store money. It is impossible to over state how important that is. This is why managers love to place massive pre-orders for me, the cashiers smile when I roll up with five shopping carts, and why I get hundreds of coupon books. Your ability to build these relationships will define your success or failure.
There will be backlash for the managers at these stores that have accepted this coupon. I guarantee that same backlash trickles right down to the cashier that took your coupon, and from that point on, you will be branded. Every transaction you try will be under the microscope, and just wait til the next time you have a coupon beep. Good luck with that.
You need people in the store to be on your side. I can promise you that using that Nice coupon will cause you more trouble in the long run then some cheap toilet paper is worth.
Up to you......
