For those of you who don't know me, I am not one to ever play coupon police, and coupon etiquette...well, I don't have any. Looking down on the stunts people pull when couponing is not my style, and frankly, the concept that someone is "ruining it for everyone" or "giving couponers a bad name" means nothing to me.

Having said that, it is my contention that you are completely screwing yourself if you use that scanned IVC coupon for the Nice toilet paper that is floating around. Why? Well, I have a few reasons.

First, let's just agree that the coupon being scanned and passed around is completely fraudulent. It is cut and dry. Those of you who want to debate that should come up with a well written argument about why a digital copy of a limited release coupon is different than a copy of a paper coupon. Anybody want a scan of my Jingle Bucks bar codes? The two are analogous.

Now, if you have followed me for any amount of time then you know that I am very extreme when it comes to Walgreens. I am sure that there are people who get more stuff for free at Wags then I do, but there certainly aren't very many. The single biggest reason that I am able to do what I do at the corner of happy and healthy, is that I have the unfettered cooperation and trust of the store employees. They know me, what I do, why I do it, and most importantly, they know that I don't do anything that will ever cost their store money. It is impossible to over state how important that is. This is why managers love to place massive pre-orders for me, the cashiers smile when I roll up with five shopping carts, and why I get hundreds of coupon books. Your ability to build these relationships will define your success or failure.

There will be backlash for the managers at these stores that have accepted this coupon. I guarantee that same backlash trickles right down to the cashier that took your coupon, and from that point on, you will be branded. Every transaction you try will be under the microscope, and just wait til the next time you have a coupon beep. Good luck with that.

You need people in the store to be on your side. I can promise you that using that Nice coupon will cause you more trouble in the long run then some cheap toilet paper is worth.

Up to you......

Amen, integrity first. I asked at my store and they said no you need the coupon and from there I decided that I wouldn't try it anymore. I one store says you need the actual coupon then going to the other stores and trying it would be like trying to scam them out of something. If for one have saved plenty of money since I started couponing, in fact it saved my life. I can't stop others from cheating, but I"m just so grateful that we have such a thing available to those who really need it that I can't fathom trying to cheat to get something. Thanks Rob, that's why I follow you and why I love this community that you've created. Sigh, It gets more awesome as the days go by :)

I do agree on this but what happens if they decide to accept them like the nature made $5 printable coupons. I have a tough time explaining that it was posted on facebook that it was being accepted but they said no anyway. It doesnt seem right that others had no issue using printable coupons from the magazine and I cant because there always someone new at walgreen. I just dont know why I bother going to walgreen if they feel I am scamming them for some reason. I did have a few cashier saying that they seen other people doing that but the manager wasnt there when it happen.

i work at walgreens, but im new. there were 2-3 people who got all of our stock, even the manager didnt know about this coupon but these guys were pushy. i told them i need to call my manager because the transaction was so huge, 20 packs for less than 5 dollars or something (i dont remember). the woman was pushy, insisting it was all right and stuff. one girl carried all the packs by hand, stacking like 10 packs high or something. it was falling all over her. i know it sounds funny cause it really does. i told her to go to cosmetics cause my manager told me big transactions will hold up the front and we have a lot of people buying cold medicines with their kids. but this girl just came right back at me and pushed at me to serve her. i think they know im know and want to take advantage of that fact. again, not a good feeling and i wasnt happy about it.

it really gets out of hand, cause some of these people dont care if we, the employees, get into trouble. the coupon seems weird and strange and my manager told me it might be a mistake. :(

Are we really really sure about the NM coupons? Rob's wisdom here has me worried that I've cost my store thousands.. I mean I used te CRAP out of those things! And I will continue to if its not screwing my store over, cause they don't expire for awhile!! I know they said the NM q's were going to be honored on FB but then they pulled the q from the online version of the diabetes & you mag.. But I'm still over here printing stacks of them... Am I in the wrong here, should I stop?? Help! TIA!!

That NM coupon was created and distributed online to everyone.  The PDF is meant to be printed out for folks who can't find the mag at the store, can't get to the store or want to read online.  I have printed that mag for my clients who were home bound so many times!  So it's completely legitimate to print it, even Wags has helpful tools to allow this to happen.  Though it says Walgreens. it is a MNF coupon and NM will reimburse them.  Before even using that coupon i walked into my store and asked if a coupon from one of their online printable books was okay.  So use them, both Wags and NM intended the book to be in two forms, online and in print...but, i bet they will not do this again.

Jordana if they said they are going to honor them then I wouldn't worry. It is a physical coupon that you were able to print. they can send to a clearinghouse and get reimbursed. This coupons was some sort of scan to phone thing where the people didn't have the physical coupon. Sort of like that snip snap app and I can't get with that. But if you are worried I heard from another coupon buddy of mine that you can get the store to order some more diabetes booklets for you with the coupon in there. It is a order code on the back of the book and they said if you ask the pharmacy and give them the order code then they may. It is worth a shot to me because that coupon has been a money maker other places as well and I want to cover my basis and have the actually magazine coupon because I know I am going to get a side eye because it says product at Walgreens on top of it being a printable. Hope that helps:)

I  have pass on this deal and like you Rob, at my favorite store and most of the wags all know me by name. I am not trying to ruin my relationship nor make it hard for other couponers.
